Around the House

It’s been a very busy last week and I feel like I’ve been totally out of the blogging world — a huge thank you to Amanda, Erika, and Rachel for filling in for me! Thanks also for all of your comments and emails — I’m looking forward to a new week and catching up with all of your blogs.

I thought it’d be fun to share a few detail snaps from around the house:

01. I finally found the perfect cane-back chair pair on Craigslist for a total steal! I tried staining them last week and the stain wouldn’t hold at all — it just ended up being this huge, sticky mess that I had to wipe and then sand off. The wood is so smooth and even if I try to sand it it’s not the kind of wood that holds stain — it just sits on top and won’t absorb or dry. Any tips? I’m thinking I just need to prime and paint them instead of try to stain them. Either way, I’m looking forward to transforming these little guys.
02. A bar cart detail shot — milk glass + a sweet book.
03. A favorite book that I’ve been loving lately — on top of our Docksta table.
04. Shelving arrangement in our kitchen.
05. A copper tea kettle + my favorite kitchen item.

Hi everyone! It’s Rachel here from Little Bits of Lovely + I’m excited to be here stepping in for Natalie, who not only has an incredibly chic sense of style, but is also one of the friendliest bloggers I have ‘met’!

I thought I’d share with you today an item on my crush list that I first spied over on Stockholm Street style: the Acne Mape Stamped leather jacket

I decided to re-create the look + also put together a more casual look that would be perfect for the weekend…

Such an incredibly versatile piece, don’t you think?

Thank you for having me today Natalie!

Today the wonderful Erika is filling in for me. Erika is the author of one of my favorite blogs ever — if you don’t read it you are missing out! Take it away, Erika!

Hello, it’s Erika from small shop, a.k.a. BIG fan of Natalie and her style. With the fall season officially in full swing, I thought it would be fun to take a look at one trend that’s on everyone’s checklist: the burgundy bag. In any size — and from hues grape to wine — it seems like you can style it up with just about any neutral, and make your outfit that much richer.

small: $275 / $275 / $156 / $235medium: $495 / $395 / $350 / $448large: $525 / $395 / $525 / $360
Will you be rocking the burgundy bag this season?

Hi everyone! I’m Amanda from Lust Luxe Love filling in for Natalie and so thrilled to be here!
One of my favorite fall classics is black and gray. I love how versatile a gray jacket can be – and how it makes the perfect pairing with many of this season’s rich colors. So what’s not to love about it?
Thanks so much for having me Natalie!

Two

Today we celebrate two wonderful years.
The two years have flown by, but I am incredibly blessed.
Happy anniversary, love!
