Meal Planning

Lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve been flunking in the cooking department. We make grocery store trips way more than normal people should because of a lack of planning, and I’ve finally decided that it’s time to buckle down and start doing menu plans. For this week:

Monday
Chicken with beer reduction

Steamed asparagus
Tuesday
Wednesday
Some kind of paninis with whatever meats and cheeses are in the fridge, made with a favorite wedding gift
Thursday
Friday
Whatever’s leftover
Do you have a meal planning method? I’d love to hear!

  1. I plan my meals every week and shop once a week. but i started something new for the summer: i am trying to only go to the grocery store once a month for staples and buy what looks good at the farmer’s market and create with those items and what i have at home. so far it has worked out pretty well. i have a farmer’s market recipe today on the blog.

  2. I can’t live without meal planning! We used to go to the store all the time and spend all this money, then come home and feel like we had nothing to eat.

I started meal planning about six months ago and it has made such a huge difference. I used to go once a week, but now that I’m working I will go every two weeks. I plan/research/organize all my meals from work. I can plan enough for leftovers for work the next day, but other days I bring a sandwich, etc, so I buy just what we need.

    Hope it works for you!

  3. Hi Natalie,
I definitely have to meal plan as well or else I will make multiple unnecessary trips to the grocery store.
On Sundays I usually get out my cookbooks or use tons of food blogs I follow and the advertisement of my local grocery store. I try to buy what is on sale and meal plan around what is on sale and make sure my meals are usually healthy and have lots of veggies.
Keep up the meal planning, I find it helpful or else i would stress out at 3pm to figure out what is for dinner that night

  4. I need to follow your plan. I seriously go to the grocery everyday to buy what I need to cook for dinner that night and it adds up fast! The chicken and brie sounds so good!
